The Venomous Abyss

Eight bosses under the Coiled Isle, in the Vaults of Atal'Utek. Normal is cleared. Heroic is six deep — The Twin Fangs finally went down on Friday, September 19, after weeks of stubborn 30-something-percent wipes. Next up is The Coiled Altar. Ahead of the Curve is two bosses away and we intend to have it before the season ends.

Also cleared: The Tidebound Grotto — Nymrissa Wavecaller down on Normal and Heroic. Every night is logged to Warcraft Logs — not to name and shame, but so we can find out which orb nobody soaked. Progress last updated September 20, 2026.

What Casualty is

Three things, honestly

The raid

Two nights, no more

Six hours a week, start to finish. We expect you sharp for those six and we expect nothing from you the other 162. Heroic progression on a schedule adults can actually keep.

The keys

Groups every night

There is almost always a key going. Push groups for people chasing rating, and patient runs for people seeing a dungeon for the first time. Both are real groups, not one pretending to be the other.

The rest of it

Old raids and bad ideas

Transmog runs, achievement nights, mount farms, someone dragging eleven people into Classic at midnight. No signup, no pressure, no one keeping score.

We're probably not for you if…

  • You want a Mythic raid team. We run Heroic, we're going to finish it, and that's where this group is pointed.
  • You want loot council. We use group loot and trust people to trade.
  • You go quiet when a raid leader tells you to move. Being told to fix something isn't an insult here.
  • You only log in on raid night and want a permanent spot. The roster follows the people who show up.

The schedule

Raid nights

Two nights a week, both at 8:30 PM Eastern. Invites go out fifteen minutes early and first pull is at 8:30 sharp, whether or not everyone is repaired.

Next pull —

What a Friday actually looks like

  1. 8:15 PM · Invites
Get in voice. Repair, flask, food, rune. If you need a summon, say so now rather than at 8:31.
  2. 8:30 PM · First pull
Straight into progression. The plan goes out before the raid, so nobody is hearing it for the first time.
  3. Halfway · Break
    Ten minutes. Actually ten.
  4. End of night · Last pull
We call it on the clock, not on the boss. If something is at 4% we might steal one more, and that's the only overtime you'll ever be asked for.

The raid team

Who's in the group

Fifteen raiders on the Heroic team. That's the whole thing — no hidden bench, no paper roster. It's enough to raid and not quite enough to absorb a bad week, which is most of why we're recruiting.

Recruiting

Who we're short on

These are the actual gaps in the group above, not a wishlist — every class is listed, including the ones we're full on. A guild with no Priest, and one Shaman, one Monk and one Evoker who all play damage, doesn't have to guess what it's missing. That said, a good application beats a listed need every time — if your class says closed and you still want in, apply anyway and tell us why.

Social and Mythic+ ranks are always open, every class, every spec, no ilvl check, no interview. Just ask.

What we ask of raiders

  • Roughly 80% attendance. Life happens — post in the absence channel and it's fine. Ghosting is not.
  • Show up consumed. Flask, food, weapon buff, augment rune, potions. We're not carrying your repair bill or your flask.
  • Watch the fight before we pull it. A four-minute video is cheaper than twenty wipes.
  • Sim yourself. Not for us — so you stop guessing about your own gear.
  • Be in voice. You don't have to talk. You do have to hear the call.

What you get back

  • Group loot, no council, no DKP. If it's a bigger upgrade for someone else, trade it. The one rule on top of that is trials come after the roster.
  • A real bench policy. If you're sat, you're told why, and you're not sat two weeks running.
  • Logs and VODs after every night, posted without commentary unless you ask for it.
  • Keys, alt runs and dumb old-content nights that have nothing to do with your raid spot.
  • Officers who answer. Not always instantly, but always.

Easiest way in

Apply from the Guild Finder

In game, open Guild & Communities (default hotkey J) and go to the Guild Finder tab — it's there for any character without a guild. Search Casualty, tick what you're actually after, set your availability, and send it. It drops straight into our applicant list and an officer answers within a day or two.

Or talk to a person

Whisper the guild master

/w Odyesus

Usually on in the evenings, Eastern. Honest questions get honest answers, including “you'd be happier somewhere else.” Any member can put you in front of an officer too — if you run a key with a Casualty tag, just ask them.

Once you're in

What a trial looks like

Two to three weeks raiding with us. Traded upgrades go to the established roster ahead of trials during that stretch — you'll still gear up, just not in front of someone who's been in every pull since week one. It lifts as soon as your trial does. At the end an officer gives you a straight answer and tells you what it was based on.

Loot rules

  • Group loot, always. Roll on what you'd use.
  • Trade genuine upgrades. Nobody tracks it; everybody notices.
  • Tier and catalyst charges go to the roster first during progression, then to whoever wants them.
  • Trials sit behind the roster on traded upgrades until their trial ends. Not personal, not permanent.
